This jumping spider roams the southwestern United States, Mexico, and Cuba, proving that some of the world's most charismatic spiders prefer warm, arid climates. It belongs to a genus famous for large size and striking coloration, but more importantly, for intelligence and hunting prowess. Jumping spiders hunt with binocular vision and incredible agility, stalking prey with the focus of a tiny cat. They're the spiders that stop and seem to look at youโ€”because they actually are, with curiosity rather than aggression. For anyone interested in spiders as individuals, jumping spiders are the gateway drug.
