These sister species of the western honey bee were separated by evolution but share the same habitats in parts of Asia without interbreeding โ€” a remarkable example of sympatric species. They build distinctive nests with multiple combs in cavity walls, using a small entrance for security. Like all honey bees, they're highly social insects that communicate through pheromones to maximize foraging.
