The sapphire in this flutterer's name hints at the jewel-like, iridescent coloring you'll see across eastern and southern Asia. "Flutterer" perfectly describes its jerky, erratic flight patternβfast-twitch muscles that make it a challenge to photograph but incredibly effective for snatching prey out of the air. This dragonfly claims territory around freshwater bodies, hovering and darting with characteristic restless energy.
