Don't mistake these for regular crickets! Bush crickets, also called katydids, are distant cousins with their own unique charm. Native to both New Zealand and Australia, these insects have become so common in gardens that they're practically household names. With leaf-like wings and nightly choruses, they're familiar friends to anyone who gardens or spends time outdoors. The species lives up to its "common garden" reputation, showing up regularly in backyards and green spaces across Oceania. Their presence in human spaces shows how adaptable these creatures are to living alongside us.
