The buttoned snout's distinctive snout-like rostrum makes it instantly recognizable, but its true superpower is adaptability. This moth is found across an enormous geographic range from Europe to Siberia: from Scandinavia through the entire Palearctic, stretching all the way to Asia Minor, the Caucasus, and Siberia. It's equally comfortable in forests, gardens, parks, and cultivated land, and even climbs to 1,600 meters in mountainous regions.
