Meet the sole survivor of its genus — this giant metallic wood-boring beetle stands alone as the only species in Euchroma. With a stunning iridescent body and the nickname "Ceiba Borer," it lives up to both its scientific and common names by boring through the dense wood of Ceiba trees. Its metallic sheen is actually structural color from its exoskeleton, making it one of nature's flashier wood-tunneling engineers in tropical and subtropical regions.
