This damselfly is so beloved across Africa that it's earned a bewildering collection of common names—common orange, citril, pond damsel, waxtail, gewone aljander, and more. It's one of those species that became so useful it got renamed repeatedly by different cultures.
Found wherever reeds grow in African wetlands, it's a true reed specialist and incredibly widespread throughout the continent.
