Don't mistake size for weakness — this is one of Africa's most dangerous flower hunters. Small, spiny, and beautiful, it lurks on blossoms across southern and eastern Africa, perfectly camouflaged among petals and stamens. The spiny projections covering its body serve double duty: they enhance camouflage among thorny flowers while also making it a formidable presence to anything unlucky enough to land within striking distance.
These flower mantises are masters of the ambush, waiting motionless for hours until an unsuspecting pollinator wanders into their trap. Size means nothing when you have infinite patience and perfect positioning.
