First described by naturalist Dru Drury in 1773, this butterfly entered the scientific record from one of Earth's most remote locations: the Falkland Islands. Its discovery in such an isolated place makes it one of the more intriguing species in the scientific collection. Even today, its taxonomic placement causes friendly debateβ€”some systems shuffle it into the genus Issoria, showing that nature doesn't always fit neatly into our classifications, and there's always more to learn.
