This clever damselfly quite literally squats on lily pads, hence its perfect common name. The dusky lilysquatter has an astonishing range spanning from far-eastern Russia and Japan all the way south to India and Indonesia. Different populations have evolved slight variations—some live in cool mountain streams of Korea and central China, while others thrive in the tropical waters of Thailand and Taiwan.
