Despite its whimsical name, this true bug means business. Found from Central Europe all the way across the Palearctic to Siberia, it's distributed across an enormous range, though it's patchy and absent from the far north and south. Interestingly, it's common in the British Isles south of central England and thrives in moist, shady deciduous forests. This preference for damp, shadowy woodland reveals that even widespread true bugs have specific habitat requirements that shape their success across regions.
