At just 20 millimeters long, this tiny jewel packs impressive color-shifting abilities. The metallic green shell features structurally-colored iridescence, meaning the color comes from how light bounces off microscopic structures rather than pigment alone. Even more striking: the same species might display bronze, copper, violet, blue, or black depending on the individualβno two beetles may look quite identical. The coppery underside contrasts beautifully with the iridescent upper surface, with a distinctive V-shaped mark between the wing cases often bearing fine white lines.
