This small wasp has a brilliantly simple parenting strategy: the female builds a miniature mud pot, seals a live caterpillar inside with her egg, and departs, leaving behind a perfectly provisioned nursery. When the larva hatches, its meal is literally waiting in the next room.

It's resourcefulness at its finestβ€”the developing wasp becomes a fierce caterpillar hunter within its mud chamber, while the adult wasp leads a completely different life, peacefully sipping nectar between nesting duties.
