Prepare to be impressed by sheer size alone. This is the heavyweight champion of Australian grasshoppers—the largest grasshopper species on the entire continent. Found exclusively in Australia's tropical and subtropical regions, these giants dwarf all their cousins and command instant respect. Unlike many grasshoppers that form massive gregarious swarms, these insects are fiercely solitary, preferring to hunt and feed alone rather than joining the crowd. Their impressive bulk makes them hard to miss in their natural habitats, and they're formidable jumpers despite their considerable size.

Think you can identify this one in the wild?
