This fly is one of nature's greatest impersonators, and its deception has been wildly successful. It looks so strikingly like a bumblebee that people constantly mistake it for one, even though it's actually a completely different creature. The parasitic fly has become the most common species in its entire genus by perfecting this bee-like disguise. It uses the appearance to get close to real bees and exploit them. One of nature's most successful con artists, this fly demonstrates how powerful visual mimicry can be in the insect world.
