These common European shield bugs range from vibrant green to bronzy hues, blending seamlessly into foliage where they feed on plant sap. They're so widespread throughout Europe and the British Isles that encountering one is nearly inevitable if you spend time in gardens, orchards, or woodlands.
What's most impressive is their northern reach: they're found as far north as 63ยฐN latitude, well into Scandinavia, making them one of the most northerly shield bug species. Their wide color variation and adaptability to diverse habitats explain why they're so successful. You'll find them active from spring through fall, feeding peacefully on a variety of plants.
