This Australian gall wasp became an unexpected biological warrior when the longleaf wattle spread beyond its native range, becoming an invasive pest. Scientists deployed it as a biological control agent, introducing it to South Africa in 1985 and Portugal in 2015 to parasitize the invasive acacias. The introduction proved remarkably successful, offering a sustainable solution that lets nature do the pest control workβa perfect example of harnessing natural enemies against invasive species.
