This Papilionidae swallowtail from Madagascar is a window into one of the world's most spectacular butterfly families. Swallowtails are known for impressive size, vibrant colors, and graceful flightβ€”some species rank among Earth's largest butterflies. As a Madagascar endemic, this species belongs to an island recognized globally as a biodiversity hotspot, with an enormous portion of its wildlife found nowhere else on the planet. These elegant fliers with their characteristic tail-like hindwing extensions represent millions of years of tropical evolutionary refinement.
