Mediterranean Slant-faced Grasshopper Acrida ungarica

Its unmistakable cone-shaped head gave this Mediterranean grasshopper its primary name, along with equally charming alternatives: "nosed grasshopper" and "slant-faced grasshopper." Found across southern and central Europe, these grasshoppers of the Acridini tribe are perfectly adapted to European grasslands and meadows.
