Its unmistakable cone-shaped head gave this Mediterranean grasshopper its primary name, along with equally charming alternatives: "nosed grasshopper" and "slant-faced grasshopper." Found across southern and central Europe, these grasshoppers of the Acridini tribe are perfectly adapted to European grasslands and meadows. Despite their distinctive pointy head profile, they blend remarkably well into their natural habitat, making them typical residents of the dry grassy regions where they thrive.
