This European native's intricate mottled pattern provides perfect camouflage against leaf litter and foliage. Like all stink bugs, it's armed with a chemical defense system—releasing a pungent odor when threatened that effectively says "I taste terrible." Part of the massive Pentatomidae family, which includes both major agricultural pests and helpful predatory cousins, these bugs are found across Europe doing what they do best: feeding on plant sap. The diversity within this family alone is remarkable.
