Tiny powerhouse: one of the world's smallest stingless bees. Despite their size, these eusocial insects form organized colonies across Mexico, Central and South America. Multiple regional subspecies show striking color variation—some darker, some lighter—reflecting local adaptation. They're known by dozens of names across their range, but everywhere they're valued as efficient pollinators and honey producers. These little bees prove that size doesn't determine social complexity or ecological importance.
