This hawk-moth was formally documented by Linnaeus in 1758, earning its place in scientific history early on. Also called the army green moth, it takes its name from the oleander plant, its key host. As a member of the Sphingidae family, hawk-moths are among the insect world's most impressive fliersβ€”capable of hovering, diving, and flying backward with remarkable precision, performing aerial maneuvers that would make birds jealous.
