GenusTropical Wandering Spiders (Ctenus)
This wandering spider brings active, relentless hunting to tropical ecosystems. Unlike orb-weavers that sit and wait, wandering spiders are mobile predators that actively stalk and pursue prey, cruising through vegetation and leaf litter on the hunt. The genus Ctenus has been recognized since 1805 and includes some of the most widespread tropical predators, ranging from South America through Africa to East Asia. They're skilled enough to tackle prey much larger than themselves, making them surprisingly formidable hunters despite their modest size.
