Predatory Bush-cricket Saga pedo

One of Europe's largest insects, this wingless predator reaches up to 10.5 centimeters (exceptionally 12 cm) from head to ovipositor tip. It never evolved wings—it doesn't need them. With a body 5–7 cm long (up to 7.8 cm in the largest individuals), it's built like a miniature hunting machine, coming in brown or green. Found across southern Europe and western Asia, it ranks among the world's largest Orthoptera, a serious ambush predator that dominates its habitat through sheer size and efficiency.
