These giant weevils (2-4 centimeters long) are among the most destructive beetles in the world, and their larvae are nightmare architects. A single larva can excavate a tunnel up to a full meter long through a palm trunk, and multiple larvae working together can completely hollow out and kill an entire tree. Color variants range from rusty red to several other hues, but whatever shade they wear, they spell disaster for coconut, date, and oil palm industries worldwide.
