This strikingly elegant grasshopper lives up to its name with rich brown coloring and distinctive white-tipped, club-shaped antennae that make it instantly recognizable. Measuring just 14-22mm, it's medium-sized for a grasshopper but perfectly visible to an observant eye. What makes this species special is its complex courtship displayβ€”males don't just sing; they choreograph elaborate dances, combining leg movements, body vibrations, and sound to impress females. Found across most of Europe through mid-December, they thrive in dry grasslands and rocky scrub, making them reliable summer companions in Mediterranean and temperate regions.
