Crab spiders are the ambush predators of the spider world, and this seven-spined species is no exception. These spiders lie in wait on flowers and foliage, perfectly camouflaged and patient, waiting for unsuspecting pollinators to wander into range. Their distinctive spines make them instantly recognizable.

Named for their sideways stance and flattened body, they're masters of stillness. Watch one hunt on a flower and you'll see a spider that has perfected the art of 'be like the furniture.' Patience is everything when you're a flower-dwelling predator.

Think you can identify this one in the wild?
