Meet the earwig with a serious case of sexual dimorphism: while both males and females sport those infamous pincers, the males have much larger, curved forceps that look absolutely fearsome compared to the females' smaller, straighter versions. Don't let appearances fool youβ€”both use these multipurpose tools for predation, defense, courtship, and wing folding. Found worldwide in warm regions, these tawny earwigs are highly variable in size, ranging from just 16 mm to a hefty 30 mm, making some individuals nearly twice the size of others.
