GenusDolycoris (Dolycoris)
Fuzzy and formidable, this member of the Pentatomidae family lives up to both its common names. The 'sloe' connection hints directly at its preferred foodβthe sloe berry, that tiny blue-black fruit of the blackthorn bush. With a hairy, shield-shaped body, it's built perfectly for clinging to bramble and scrubland where its favorite fruit ripens in late summer. Hunt for it among wild berry patches across Europe, where it thrives in thorny tangles.
