True to its name, the small gold grasshopper lives up to every word of its common name. This diminutive insect sports a shimmering golden appearance that makes it stand out among the browns and greens of grassland habitats. Despite its petite size, it's a capable and athletic jumper, able to leap several times its own body length when threatened.

A full member of the Acrididae family despite its small stature, this grasshopper thrives in meadows across its range. Its compact build allows it to navigate dense vegetation with ease, finding shelter and food sources that larger grasshoppers cannot access, giving it a specialized ecological niche in the grassland ecosystem.
