This leafhopper is comparatively large for its kind at about 13 millimeters, bringing surprising sophistication to the insect world. Both males and females engage in acoustic signalingβ€”essentially talking to each other through vibrations. While interesting in behavior, they're problematic as a vector of Xylella fastidiosa, a bacterium that causes serious crop diseases in many plants.
