This leafhopper is comparatively large for its kind at about 13 millimeters, bringing surprising sophistication to the insect world. Both males and females engage in acoustic signaling—essentially talking to each other through vibrations. While interesting in behavior, they're problematic as a vector of Xylella fastidiosa, a bacterium that causes serious crop diseases in many plants.
