This South American weevil attacks more than 45 different species of fruit trees, making it one of agriculture's most generalist pests. Unlike specialists targeting single crops, this beetle's broad dietary flexibility makes it nearly impossible to manage wherever fruit trees grow. Its ability to thrive on apples, citrus, stone fruits, and ornamental species gives it an advantage that keeps agricultural scientists constantly searching for new control methods.
