Southern Green Stink Bug Nezara viridula

This stink bug started as a pest in Ethiopia and has become a worldwide agricultural headache—it's now found on every continent except Antarctica. Its preference for legumes like beans and soybeans makes it economically significant, causing crop damage worth millions annually in affected regions.
The green coloration makes it blend perfectly with plant foliage, and its piercing mouthparts let it drain sap directly from developing seeds and pods. Once established in a new region, it's nearly impossible to eradicate without chemical intervention. Its global success story is a reminder of how a small, unassuming insect can become a major agricultural concern when it escapes its native habitat.
