Spring Harvestman Rilaena triangularis

This harvestman belongs to the Phalangiidae family, one of the world's most widespread arachnid groups. Unlike spiders, harvestmen have fused body segments and legs that can be dropped to escape predators—lost legs continue twitching to distract attackers. These nocturnal hunters scour leaf litter and soil for small arthropods, showing that effective predation doesn't require venom or elaborate hunting strategies.
