GenusPseudouroctonus (Pseudouroctonus)
This genus thrives in the harsh drylands and mountains of western North America, occupying the unforgiving spaces where few other predators can survive. Formally named in 1974, it's a relatively recent addition to the scientific record, a reminder that new species and genera are still being discovered and classified. These rock and cave dwellers remain mysterious to most, hiding in deep crevices and dark spaces where dedicated naturalists and researchers occasionally discover them. Masters of survival in extreme environments, they represent the scorpion family's remarkable ability to adapt to virtually any terrain.
