Named for its mathematical-looking wing patterns, this moth earned its evocative 'geometrician' nickname from the precise geometry of its markings. Originally described way back in 1775, it's become a truly cosmopolitan species, found across Africa, southern Europe, Asia, and Australia. Most remarkably, this moth regularly migrates as far north as England, Denmark, and Finland, undertaking vast journeys that would seem impossible for such a delicate insect.
