This distinctive soldier beetle is named for the two neat lines running across its body, making it instantly recognizable once you know what to look for. Also called the two-lined leather-wing, it's a North American native that hunts smaller insects with the typical soldier beetle efficiency. Like its cousins in the Cantharidae family, it's a beneficial predator that helps keep garden and crop pests under control while showcasing that elegant, distinctive stripe pattern.
