Variegated Lady Beetle Hippodamia variegata

This ladybird has earned itself an international name collection: the Adonis ladybird in Europe, the variegated ladybug in North America, and the spotted amber ladybeetle in Australia. The different names across continents reflect how widely this beetle has traveled and how beloved it's become in different regions. Each culture gave this little beetle its own special nickname—Adonis in one place, variegated in another, spotted amber in yet another.
