This African saturniid moth earns its imperial name through spectacular marbled wing patterns that look almost hand-painted across both wings. Found across a vast swath of southern and central Africa—from Angola and Botswana through to East Africa—they represent the remarkable diversity of large, visually stunning moths on the continent. The Saturniidae family includes some of the world's largest and most ornate moths, and this species certainly lives up to that legacy.
