Yellow Oriental Paper Wasp Polistes olivaceus

These paper wasps earned different names across their range—yellow oriental paper wasp in their native regions, simply yellow paper wasp in the Cook Islands, and "Rango Patia" in Cook Island Maori (varying by island). Like all paper wasps, they're master architects constructing gray nests from chewed wood fibers, creating those distinctive exposed combs you might spot under eaves or building overhangs.
