The brilliant blue tail of this Asian freshwater dragonfly is unmistakable once you catch sight of it. As a forest hawk, it hunts like a tiny aerial predator, diving and turning with surgical precision to intercept insects mid-flight. This species patrols streams and forest ponds across Asia with remarkable agility. Despite being under-studied compared to temperate species, it clearly plays an important role in its local ecosystem as a voracious insect predator.
