These dusky brown skimmers are among the most agile aerial hunters in the dragonfly world. Rather than sitting and waiting like other dragonflies, they're constantly patrolling, staying low and fast over water. They snatch other insects mid-flight using incredible aerial maneuvers that require split-second timing and aeronautical precision. Found across Europe and Asia, they're one of the most recognizable skimmers. Their hunting style—persistent, tireless, and efficient—makes them formidable predators of mosquitoes and other small flying insects.
