This might be the most successful damselfly on Earth. Known by at least five different common names—ubiquitous bluetail, Senegal golden dartlet, African bluetail, and more—it speaks to just how widespread and wildly adaptable this species is. Spanning Africa, the Middle East, and across to southern and eastern Asia, it has conquered three continents.

This blue-tailed damselfly's global success story makes it one of nature's greatest colonizers. Where there's water, there's a good chance this adaptable insect is thriving.
