The name tells you everything: 'dartlet' describes its tiny size and quick movements, while 'golden' hints at the metallic shimmer characteristic of this genus. Found in the Indian subcontinent and Iran, this small damselfly thrives in wetland habitats from lowland plains to foothill regions. Members of the family Coenagrionidae—the narrow-winged damselflies—are among the smallest damselfly species, and this one is no exception. Despite being pocket-sized, these are fierce little hunters, snapping up midges and other minute flying insects with precision that belies their delicate appearance.
