Known by two contrasting names—"black stream glider" and prized for its striking indigo coloration—this dragonfly spans from Greece and Cyprus eastward all the way to New Guinea, making it one of the most widespread species in the Old World. Incredibly adaptable to different water conditions and habitats, it's found in streams from Mediterranean coastlines to the humid tropics. Its bold coloring makes it unmistakable once you know what to look for, from Greece to the tropical reaches of Asia.
