This East Asian spider has gone global in just over a decade—the Joro spider arrived in North America around the 2010s and has been steadily expanding its range ever since. It's an incredible example of how modern trade can accidentally introduce new species to continents thousands of miles away from their home.

Here's the good news: despite their impressive size and intimidating golden-yellow coloring, Joro spiders rarely bite humans and their venom isn't medically significant. They're dramatic-looking but genuinely harmless, making them fascinating rather than frightening newcomers to North American ecosystems.
