This spiky little orb-weaver earned its name "scimitar-horn kitespider" for good reason: it has distinctive curved, sickle-shaped spines protruding from its abdomen, making it look more alien than arachnid. The unusual horn-like projections aren't just for showβ€”they're part of the spider's defense strategy against predators.

Found across eastern and southern Africa, this member of the orb-weaver family represents the amazing diversity of spider body forms. While not much is known about their specific behavior, their striking appearance alone makes them instantly recognizable.
