Often mistaken for its notorious cousin, the black widow, this cobweb spider is actually harmless and prefers to stay out of sight. The distinctive triangle pattern on its abdomen is the giveawayโa beautiful geometric marking that makes identification easy once you know what to look for. While it looks vaguely widow-like, this humble bug-catcher is far less toxic and much more common in and around homes.
