This centipede belongs to a diverse genus with over 20 described species, each a master of underground and surface hunting. These fast-moving predators are adapted to specialized ecological niches across their range, using speed and precision to overwhelm prey much larger than themselves. Despite their modest profile compared to giant Scolopendra cousins, these centipedes punch well above their weight as efficient hunters and important controllers of arthropod populations.
